love's letter-V
This is love writing to you.
Dear Neha.
Ciao. How’s Italy treating you?
I plan on visiting next summer. Because where would be love found, if not in Rome? Rome is short for romantics anyways.
You have lived twenty-eight years of your life, seen around 346 full moons, and still like the Sun better.
I am a fan of the Sun myself. It reminds me of a passionate teenager in his first ever relationship—with so much love to give that it burns him.
People like you, at times, might go towards the thing you want with an all-consuming force. You don’t stop till you have it.
If you ask me, that’s a brilliant quality to have. But, my dear, the Sun only burns, never burns out. Humans do.
So, take breaks in between conquering the world. The sky is all yours, after all.
There are not many people in the world who think the same as you—work is just a part of life, not the entire life. But I am happy to hear you have found a set of people, where you live, who share the same thoughts.
There is a peculiar kind of beauty that comes with living a slow life, you feel each second of every minute inside your chest.
If you ask me, I would love for someone to hold my wrist and measure the time against my pulse. Would you too?
Time is the best, when you feel it passing.
Barbies are a girl’s bestfriends in childhood. They encompass the very thing that’s intrinsic to girlhood—dressing up, styling them, changing their hair colors.
In fact, I have found Barbies to be the most career oriented toys. No one takes jobs as seriously as them.
Don’t get me wrong. I am not saying dressing up, makeup, and beauty are the only parts of girlhood, or that they should remain confined to that.
Makeup belongs to men as much as it does to women or any other gender. But girls make it more fun with their color coordinated vanities, clay masks, and makeovers with their best friends.
It’s a good cliché.
From reading beauty magazines to being a part of one of the biggest beauty brands ever, you have a story too perfect to be not written about.
This is what dreams are made of. You might say that you are a cosmetics chemist; but whenever someone asks me about my coolest friend, I will always tell them about you, “I have a friend who makes magic potions. They will make you feel confident about the beauty you already have.”
You have a wanderer’s heart; exploring new places is your favourite thing to do. I am a traveller myself, but my job keeps me too busy.
People need me now more than they ever did.
But when things get better in the world for love to reside in everyone’s hearts, would you like to go on a weekend trip with me? We will paint the sunset.
Your dream of becoming an air force pilot might have not worked out, but I would love to make paper air planes with you.
Someone like you doesn’t need to be a pilot to soar through the sky. God sent you with in-built wings.
“Until you ask anything, the answer is always no.”
So, over that trip, will you hold my hand? And we can fly closer to the Sun than Icarus ever did.
“I forgive you. I didn’t ask you to forgive me. Too bad, I forgive you anyway. And I forgive myself for taking so long to do it”.
Leonard said this in the show ‘Big Bang Theory’. I have started watching it after you said it’s your favourite.
He spent his whole life seeking his mother’s approval and gained nothing. In the end, he forgives his mother and accepts that she might never change. But what heals our inner child is that he also forgives himself for wasting years of his life chasing that approval, and for the pain he endured in the process.
You think that letting down your family and loved ones is the most terrible thing to happen to you. Parents always want the best for their kids, but only you know what’s best for you.
It’s okay to disappoint. The world doesn’t end there. If in the process of living your life, you disappoint them a little, then so be it.
Trust me, you will live.
In the end, you can always change the ending.
Just like you are grieving your dad. He’s everywhere you go, and even has an apartment in your mind. Fathers are always special for their little girls.
I cannot even begin to imagine how much pain you might be holding inside you. Grief hits like a bus at first, but gradually settles down.
It flows in your body like blood does. I won’t give you false hopes that it gets better. Because it doesn’t. You just learn to live with it.
Losing a parent is like losing belief in God. Because if he existed, why would it happen?
But, my dear, the best and the worst thing about humans is that they have the ability to survive everything.
You might never be able to let go of the grief, but try to hold onto the love you have for him as well.
Do not let it be a reason to stop living, but to start loving. We all have very limited days on Earth, make the best out of them.
Who deserves the happily ever after, if not you?
Cling to your idea of old school love. There is someone for everyone. You will have your someone as well; who not only texts you asking if you reached home safely, but builds a home out of his own heart for you.
And of course, now that you know me, love will always be looking out for you.
As a strange man once sang (pun intended):
“… You take the man out of the city, not the city out the man”
You might get the best spaghetti in Italy, but you might never forget the vada pav and pav bhaji of Maharashtra.
Not only your younger self would be proud of you, I am too.
Go and achieve all the dreams you have. Build your own beauty brand, I will be your first customer.
Your Barbies might be in need of new makeup. Create it for them.
There’s a lot of good to come your way—even love.
There’s a myth that those women who have a successful career, rarely get success in love. I laugh at their opinion. You can have both.
You will have both. Because you are you.
And that’s the most wonderful thing to be.
As you said, and I quote:
That curious child in you, keep it awake, and alive to keep going.
Do not forget about the weekend trip you owe me sometime in future.
Until later,
Love.
